The Power of the Living Being, the Reality of the Image: Persona by Bergman
Clio Nicastro

Persona by Bergman (1966) is one of the most penetrating research studies into the depths of human beings carried out by the Swedish film director. Such dark and gloomy aspects cannot simply be ignored or condemned. According to Bergman the image, the entry into the cinematic fiction realized in the very first scene of the film, becomes the place where the third person (R. Esposito) can be led to the surface. This is the only way
out from the human being/person dichotomy, as well as the true dimension that allows us to go deeper into the metamorphic power of life.
